Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about NotRenewing

NotRenewing.com isn't a premium marketplace—it's your last shot at getting something for domains you're about to drop anyway. If you've tried selling elsewhere without luck and renewal time is approaching, list it here. Someone might see value you missed, or maybe it just didn't find the right buyer yet. No guarantees, but it beats letting it expire for nothing. Think of this as the domain equivalent of a clearance rack—not because the domains are bad, but because the clock's run out on your patience or budget.

For Buyers

How much do domains cost?

All domains on NotRenewing are sold at a fixed price of $99. No auctions, no negotiations - just simple, transparent pricing.

Do I need an account to buy a domain?

No, you can purchase domains as a guest using just your email address. You'll receive all transfer instructions via email.

How long does the domain transfer take?

Sellers have 72 hours to submit transfer details after your purchase — either an auth code for you to use, or a direct push if you share a registrar. Most transfers complete within 24-48 hours after that.

What if I don't receive my domain?

You can open a dispute within 7 days of purchase. If the seller fails to transfer the domain, you'll receive a full refund.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express) through Stripe, as well as PayPal.

For Sellers

How do I list a domain for sale?

Sign up for a seller account, add a payout method, and submit your domains. Listings go live immediately — no approval wait.

What are the domain requirements?

Standard listings must be at least 24 months old and expiring within 12 months. Paid plans include young domain slots that let you list domains under 24 months — the number of slots depends on your tier.

How long are listings active?

Listings are active for 90 days. You can relist for free if your domain doesn't sell.

What happens when my domain's registration expires?

Your listing stays visible for 14 days after the domain's registration expires, so buyers still have a chance to claim it during the post-expiration window. After that grace period the listing is automatically removed from the site. You'll get an email a few days before removal, and you can relist anytime from your dashboard.

When do I get paid?

Payouts are processed within 3–5 business days after the buyer confirms receipt of the domain.

How much do I receive per sale?

US-based sellers receive $90.00 per $99 sale. International sellers receive $88.48 — the $1.52 difference covers PayPal's higher international transfer fee. Your location is set in Payout Settings and confirmed automatically after your first PayPal payout.

What happens if I can't deliver a domain after it sells?

Sellers are responsible for making sure a listed domain can still be transferred or pushed at the time of sale — domains may be listed close to expiration, so keep yours renewable until it sells. If a domain you sold can no longer be delivered — you listed the wrong name, it already sold on another platform, or it expired before transfer completed — the buyer is fully refunded and a $10 handling fee is deducted from your next payout. If you let us know proactively, it stays a simple $10 fee. If we have to discover it ourselves or you miss the transfer deadline, repeat failures escalate (up to $50) and your listings can be paused until the fee is cleared.

How do I receive my payout?

Payouts are sent via PayPal, Wise, or Stripe Connect — choose your preferred method in your dashboard Payout Settings. For PayPal users: US-based sellers receive $90.00 per sale; international sellers receive $88.48 (the difference covers PayPal's international transfer fee).

Can I list more than 25 domains?

Yes. The free tier includes 25 listing slots. Paid plans are billed monthly and include more slots and young domain slots:

  • Starter — $5/mo: 50 listing slots, 5 young domain slots
  • Growth — $12/mo: 150 listing slots, 15 young domain slots
  • Pro — $25/mo: 300 listing slots, 25 young domain slots
  • Business — $49/mo: 600 listing slots, 60 young domain slots
  • Enterprise — $99/mo: 1,000 listing slots, 1,000 young domain slots

All plans activate immediately. Cancel anytime.

What are young domain slots?

Young domain slots let you list domains under 24 months old. These are included in all paid plans — the number of slots increases with your tier. Young domain listings are active for 30 days and can be relisted.

Can I boost my listing to get more visibility?

Yes. From your dashboard, hit the Boost button on any active listing. Two options are available:

  • Site feature — $10: Pins your domain at the top of the site for 7 days. Limited to 3 active slots at a time.
  • Newsletter feature — $10: Places your domain first in the next available daily newsletter send. Limited to 3 slots per send.

Can I remove a listing and relist it later?

Yes, but a 14-day waiting period applies before a removed domain can be relisted. This policy exists to ensure fairness for all buyers and sellers — it prevents domains from being repeatedly cycled to gain placement in search results or the daily newsletter. Domains that have appeared in the newsletter are not eligible to appear again, even after relisting. Sellers found attempting to game the platform's visibility systems may have their accounts suspended.

Transfers

Which TLDs are supported?

We support 79 extensions, including .com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .co, .dev, .app, .xyz, .me, .tv, and .shop — and many more.

How do I transfer a domain after it sells?

You'll receive an email with the buyer's information. Within 72 hours, submit your transfer details from your dashboard: either the domain's auth/EPP code — the buyer then completes the transfer at their own registrar using that code — or, if the buyer has an account at your registrar, a direct account-to-account push (no auth code needed).

Listing Quality

Is listing really free?

Yes, listing up to 25 domains is completely free. There are no listing fees.

Secondary Market (Offers on Sold Domains)

Can I make an offer on a domain that already sold?

Yes. Once a domain has sold and the transfer is complete, its page opens up for private offers to the current owner. The minimum offer is $299. The owner can accept, counter, or decline.

Why is the minimum offer $299?

Domains here sell for $99. If you missed it at $99, the next chance to own it is the aftermarket — and a sold domain has already proven someone wanted it, so offers start at $299.

Will the owner see my contact information?

No. NotRenewing sits in the middle of every secondary-market deal. The owner sees your offer and message, but neither party sees the other's contact details until a sale closes and the transfer is arranged.

How long do I have to respond to an offer or counter?

Offers expire 72 hours after they're submitted if the owner takes no action. If the owner counters, you have a fresh 72 hours to accept the counter before it expires. Expired offers can simply be resubmitted.

How long does a sold domain stay open for offers?

The offer form stays open for 30 days after the original transfer completes. After that the sold page remains visible but no longer accepts new offers. Owners can also turn offers off for their domain at any time.

Can I submit more than one offer, or offer above the minimum?

There's no ceiling — you're free to offer more than $299, and higher offers stand out when an owner is weighing multiple bids. If other offers are pending you'll see the count, though not the amounts.

What happens when an offer is accepted?

You'll get a secure checkout link by email. Once you pay, the owner is notified to transfer the domain, and NotRenewing coordinates the handoff — the same trusted-middle process as a normal purchase.

What fees apply on a secondary-market sale?

NotRenewing collects a 10% success fee plus standard payment processing, both taken from the accepted amount before the seller is paid. There's no cost to submit an offer.

I own a domain I bought here — how do offers work for me?

Offers on your domain show up in your dashboard and by email. You can accept, counter, or decline each one, and you can toggle offers off entirely. Accepting one automatically declines the others.
